Observation Narrative |
Community Type: tidal freshwater marsh
Community Descripton: Throughout the marsh are patches of often a single species although in the higher spots much of the vegetation consists of mixed species. Some of the species that appear (through binoculars) as monoculture are Eleocharis [possibly fallax], Zizania aquatica, Nuphar advena, Peltandra virginica, Scirpus validus, Decodon verticillata, and Typha latifolia, but they may also appear in low densities in areas of high (relatively) diversity. The plot described here was dominated by Gratiola aurea.
