Community Type: tidal freshwater marsh
General Vegetation/Habitat Description / Community Description: Fresh water tidal marsh along both banks of Raccoon Creek. Marsh on south bank appears extensive and dominated by Zizania aquatica. Marsh on north bank is narrow and has diverse flora. Deeper waters are dominated by Nuphar advena. Marsh is cut by several stream channels and mixed with marshy "islands" of shrubbery. There is considerable water-borne litter but no obvious recent human disturbance. South bank of creek has houses, north bank at this point has woods and old fields. Test plot is on north bank.
