Community Type: tidal freshwater marsh
General Vegetation/Habitat Description: Muddy tidal shore on the S bank of Rancocas Creek, about 2 miles from the creek mouth, including a marsh dominated by Zizania aquatica; a low natural levee that is flooded only at high tides and is dominated by shrubs of Salix nigra, with Amorpha fruticosa; and a lower-elevated zone that is exposed only at low tides and dominated by Nuphar advena. There is no obvious recent disturbance but there is an abundance of water-borne trash. Marsh area (landward of levee) is generally flat. Shore between levee and river slopes to the water (north).
