Community Type: tidal freshwater marsh
Community Description: Fresh water tidal marsh along lower reach of Woodbury Creek - about 0.5 miles from the Delaware River. Zizania aquatica is a co-dominant plant with Nuphar advena and Peltandra virginica, but there are some large areas of Phragmites australis and Amaranthus cannabinus. There are also large areas of what appears to be bare mud (exposed at low tide). These marshes have, in the past, been encroached upon by development and filling and there is some water-borne debris. The soils are a dark brown silt and muck with a surface layer of partly-decomposed plant remains.
