Community Type: tidal brackish marsh
Community Description: Oligohaline tidal marsh to the N of Mill Creek in Supawna Meadows NWR. On the landward side, the marsh grades into a grassy field. Opposite, this section of marsh grades into Phragmites marsh. The W side of this section of marsh is bordered by a dirt track that separates this section from a dense Phragmites marsh. Road bends to the SW and goes through a small copse before entering at a footbridge. Marsh is a mosaic with some pure stands of Typha angustifolia, Echinochloa walteri, and Phragmites scattered throughout, but much of it is mixed forbs and graminoids. Substrate is saturated and evidence of flooding is seen near small channels, where vegetation is flattened and mud-stained. This area has been treated for Phragmites control, but otherwise appears undisturbed.
