Community Type: tidal brackish marsh Community Description: Brackish tidal marsh, S of Page's Run and adjacent to Baptist Rd (Rt. 656) in Newport; bordered by woods on NE and SW, and by road on the SE. Dominated by Spartina alterniflora, with patches of Spartina patens and Scirpus robustus; some Phragmites around edges. Wrack along road indicates periodic flooding. Marsh is approximately 100m wide (creek to road). Site appears undisturbed - no obvious ditches or dumping of fill.
