Community Type: tidal brackish marsh
General Description: Spartina alterniflora-dominated brackish tidal marsh on both sides of Stow Creek. Creek edge is lined by narrow strips of Spartina cynosuroides. Wood edges on both sides are lined by Phragmites. Few other species are observed in the marsh except for infrequent Amaranthus cannabinus. No disturbance except for the obvious - farm field edge was built up at one time. Soil is black muck. Marsh is probably about 93% vegetated - the other 7% is open water (high tide) or muck (low tide).
