Community Type: interdunal swale
Community Description: Linear, hummocky, NW-SE-oriented Sphagnous wetland, originating near the road and SE corner of the A17 parking lot and extending into the secondary dunes. Wettest areas are dominated by Schoenoplectus pungens. On drier hummocks and around edges are large clumps of Osmunda regalis, Toxicodendron radicans. Cinnamon and marsh ferns are growing along the edges also. Sphagnum is found throughout. Wetland is surrounded by a tall shrub thicket - Vaccinium corymbosum, Amelanchier canadensis, Acer rubrum, Ilex opaca, T. radicans, Aronia arbutifolia. Bottom is firm; no recent disturbance. Phragmites is invading near the road.
