Observation Narrative
Community Type: interdunal swale
General Description: Transition zone located at the toe of the dune, dominated by Vaccinium macrocarpon near shrub copse, but Schizachyrium, Lechea, and Hudsonia mixed in at the edges. Other spp. include Juncus dichotomus, Toxicodendron radicans, Andropogon glomeratus, and Bartonia virginica.
Community Description: Linear forb and shrub community located at the base of a secondary dune to the S, and a dense shrub thicket to the N. A few low Vaccinium corymbosum are surrounded by V. macrocarpon and various graminoids and forbs. The entire area appears to be a wetland that has filled in from windborne sand over the years. No disturbance.
