Observation Narrative |
Community Type: interdunal swale
Community Description: Upper edge of a shallow depression - much of the soil is covered by a mat of rather small, depauperate-looking Drosera intermedia. Ferns overtop the plants. Area is invaded by Phragmites. Surface is a mat of wiry roots of Thelypteris palustris. No soil sample is taken. This may be a seepage wetland that also gets runoff from the adjacent road during heavy rain events. No recent disturbance. Bordered by secondary ocean dunes to the east.
