The site is 1.4 miles SE of Alloway. Take Alloway-Friesburg Rd. SE to Cobbs Mill Rd. Head S on Cobbs Mill Rd. 0.6 miles. Site is on the left.

Average Soil Texture: Mineral - sandy loam
Landscape Description: Site is located in a mixed deciduous-evergreen forest with Castanea pumila and Magnolia. It is in the upper reaches of Deep Run, just east of Thundergut Wildlife Management Area. There is rolling topography and the ponds are at about 90' elevation, while Thundergut Run is at 50' and Cobbs Mill Lake, just to the south, is at 60' elevation. The region is predominantly forest, with homes scattered along roadsides, Cobbs Mill just to the S and a horse farm just N. Agricultural fields are scattered.

Community Type: coastal plain pond
Community Description: Lowest area of coastal plain pond dominated by Lindernia dubia and moss. Several other species are scattered throughout, creating a relatively homogenous patch, with a relatively large percentage of bare soil. Soil remains moist, but there is no standing water. Just to the S of this patch is a patch of nearly pure Eleocharis ovata. Only scattered Polygonum interupts the monoculture ~3x3'. There are other patches of Eleocharis beneath the Polygonum bordering the area.
Other species present but not in plot (in surrounding woods): Quercus phellos, Cypripedium sp., Lycopodium sp., Epigaea repens, Castanea pumila, Magnolia acuminata, Chimaphila maculata
