Location Narrative ? Site is 3.7 miles south of Woodmansie. From the intersection of Routes 72 and 532, travel 1.3 miles southeast on combined Route 72/532 to Crawley Road (Sooey Road on USGS topo map). Turn right (south) and follow Crawley Road south around Superfund site (fenced area) on sand road. Turn right immediately after fenced area. Follow to T-intersection about 0.4 miles, turn left. Travel 0.2 miles, turn left. Continue to end of road. Pond is directly south.

Observation Narrative ? Community Type: coastal plain pond Community Description: Low and tall shrub zone around periphery of coastal plain pond consisting of a very narrow and intermittent Chamaedaphne band with Vaccinium and other Ericaceous shrubs between it and the surrounding Pinus rigida woodland. A few Acer rubrum are dotted around this perimeter. Slope is relatively abrupt (~6-7 degress). Decodon verticillatus along front edge of Chamaedaphne on E side of pond. Additional species present but not in survey area: Acer rubrum, Decodon verticillatus NOTE: Ground water quality is monitored at Superfund site ½ mile to the north and toxins from that site could be affecting this area.
