Observation Narrative ? Community Type: coastal plain pond Community Description: A zone of shrubs and trees surrounds the coastal plain pond. Very little change in elevation (2-3 degrees). Trees and shrubs are growing in small hummocks with a water line ~1-1.5'. Acer rubrum dominates the area with Clethra and Leucothoe dominating the shrub layer and Sphagnum throughout, extending 20-30 m around the pond.
