From Hampton Rd. at Hampton Furnace, cross Batsto Creek and continue 1.1 miles. Turn right towards High Crossing. Park at railroad tracks and follow tracks S about 200'. Ponds are adjacent to tracks on the N side.

Community Type: coastal plain pond (Carex striata var. brevis dominated)
Community Description: Pondshore herbaceous community occupying the upper zone of the ponds, between the Chamaedaphne-dominated shrub border and the Cladium mariscoides/Juncus canadensis zone in the central portion of the pond. Community is dominated by the clonal Carex striata var. brevis with small amounts of Cladium, Juncus canadensis and Saccharum giganteum. Zone is flooded at the time of this visit, with anywhere from 0-22 cm of water along the 4 transects. There are a few dense patches of Glyceria obtusa located within this zone. Surrounding pitch pine lowland has been burnt within the past few years.
