Community Type: coastal plain pond
Community Description: The transition from herbaceous zone to shrub and/or trees at this site. Patches of large Vaccinium, Leucothoe, Clethra, and a few small Diospyros (persimmon) and Quercus are growing 15-20' away from the forest canopy and other areas where the shrub and tree canopy have an abrupt front to the herbaceous area. Trunks of many dead trees still reach >= 20m. There are many channels extending out in the forest, creating hummocks of shrubs and trees.
