Observation Narrative
Community Description: High canopy Fraxinus pennsylvanica / Acer rubrum forest. Well-lit. Fraxinus resembles a "q-tip" in shape - tall trunk, high, but short branches. Seems that twigs are sprouting directly from the trunk. Regarding Fraxinus, large patches of outer bark are flaked off, giving it a smooth gray appearance with longitudinal ridges, greatly diminished. These bald patches sometimes extend a good distance from the base. Very little subcanopy is found in this plot; all the shrub layers are thin also.
Fauna: ribbon snake
