Site is about 2.7 miles NNW of Penn Place. From the intersection of Chatsworth and Crawley (aka, Sooey) Rds. In Penn State Forest, travel N on Crawley Rd. 2 miles. Turn left and follow road 0.5 miles and turn left again. The road follows the N edge of the creek. After 0.7 miles turn N, then W. Site is on the right.

General Landscape Description: Survey site is located in a pine-oak upland with a scrub oak and heath understory. The NE reaches of a creek flowing W into Goose Pond runs about 300-400' south of the site and 1000' east and west. Forest with sand roads extends several miles.

Community Type: coastal plain pond
Community Description: Elevated zone surrounding coastal plain pond dominated primarily by Chamaedaphne, with large patches of Panicum virgatum. There is ~1' higher in elevation than adjacent zone annually inundated with water. Dichanthelium sp. (rosette) grows in open areas with Panicum verrucosum, between P. virgatum and Chamaedaphne.
