Continue 0.7 miles to the first left and turn. Continue 0.5 miles. Pond is south of the road in a forested patch ~800' within the forest.

Observation Narrative ? Community Type: coastal plain pond Community Description: Southeastern corner straddling Cephalanthus and Acer rubrum zones with Carex striata. Forest extending away from the pond has moss ~1-2' at bases, with Carex striata thinning out to no understory(leaves and Sphagnum). Tall shrubs, Ilex opaca, make up 15-20% of understory cover. Shrubs are denser on the west side in more upland areas with Quercus phellos and Q. falcata. Other species present but not in plot: Woodwardia virginica, Liquidambar styraciflua, Vaccinium corymbosum, Clethra alnifolia, Nyssa sylvatica, club moss, Mitchella repens, Ilex verticillata, Decodon verticillatus, Fagus grandifolia, Scirpus cyperinus, Carex sp., Eleocharis tenuis
