Landscape Narrative
Landscape Description: The site is situated in a wide valley of the Wildcat Brook and is bordered by upland limestone forest to the SE and lowland Acer rubrum swamp and Acer-Populus lowland forest to the south. To the east of the fen complex lies an extensive Typha-dominated wetland (formerly fen) and to the west is Old Prospect Road and residential development on large lots. A beaver-impounded fen lies to the N and E of the large turfy juniper fen. Fen communities present include: turfy juniper, marl seep, shrub carr and deep peat. Area has been historically ditched and grazed. Surrounding upland is largely residential. Surrounding wetland valley is in very good condition.
Landscape Structure and Extent: Adjacent communities include Acer-Populus-Juniperus lowland forest, Typha marsh, and Quercus uplands.
