Landscape Structure and Extent: The site is bordered by mature upland forest on one side (Quercus, Liriodendron, Carya - invaded by Berberis), and a patchy Quercus rubra forest and successional forest mix with Juniperus, on the other side.

Community Description: This community is upslope from a larger turfy juniper fen; adjacent to an upland limestone forest, much of which is not developed but overrun by Berberis. This area is similar to the lower turfy juniper fen but wetter and with a more defined hummock and hollow microtopography. Additional species present but not in observation area: Myrica, Vaccinium, Thuja (seedling)
