Observation Narrative
Dense herb layer. [2014-05-07:] Dry-mesic, rich forest just back from the rim of a limestone cliff/escapment at Falling Spring Falls. Representative of a narrow strip of forest that is a little drier than most of the adjacent stand. This site has abundance evidence of past mining activities, including trenches, pits, metal pipes, and aspects of vegetation that indicate past clearing. Revisit/resampling on this date was a close estimate of the original plot location based on the location of trees matching those of the original sample; the original geocoordinates did not exactly match this location, but we are fairly confident that it is where the 2002 plot was sampled based on vegetation features.
