Follow 300o bearing from road, then walk along pig wall, then follow GPS coordinates to find the large pair of red oaks. Tagged tree is a Quercus rubra of 59.5cm dbh with tag #301. Conduit is at a bearing of_230 degrees and_0 m from tree.
Plot location was pre-selected by the project's stratified random sampling design.
Q. rubra and Liriodendron tulipifera forest with Fraxinus americana and hickories. Canopy is somewhat closed. Lindera benzoin is the dominant shrub on the slope. Black cohosh, bloodroot, and ginseng indicate rich, mesic conditions, but total species diversity is low. Many exposed rocks that are probably greenstone.
