Observation Narrative ? Directions to plot and tree tag: Tagged tree is at the edge of the road shoulder. Tag faces the forest. The true location of the random-stratified plot location is 2m away from the conduit at a bearing of 136 degrees. Tagged tree is a Liriodendron tulipifera of 28 cm dbh with tag # 321. Conduit is at a bearing of _348 degrees and 1 m from tree. Plot location was pre-selected by the project's stratified random sampling design. This is an oak-hickory forest with moderately aged trees. Canopy gaps have allowed Pinus strobus to come in scattered in the shrub layer. The herb layer is very sparse, possibly because it has been so dry. Vaccinium spp. Are the dominant ground cover, and they have very low cover.
