Directions to plot and tree tag:
Plot location was pre-selected by the project's stratified random sampling design.
Walk along Otter Creek trail and then cross the creek where exposed bedrock makes it easy to walk across, about 200m NE of Terrapin Hill Overlook. Tagged tree is a Pinus strobus of 52 cm dbh with tag #326. Conduit is at a bearing of 174 degrees and 2 m from tree.
The plot is a sample of creek bed that is mostly exposed due to the drought. There is a high cover of bedrock. Herbs are growing wherever there is enough soil. The northern bank has an abundance of Alnus serrulata that overhangs the creek. Tsuga canadensis, Pinus strobus, and various hardwoods also reach over the creek.
Percent cover of the combined tree, the shrub and herb strata were not recorded in the field but estimated from cover classes.
