Plot location was selected by DNH Ecologist in the field.
Successional tulip poplar forest on ravine slope just above stream channel. Species composition includes many species indicative of richer sites. Carya ovata, Sanguinaria canadensis, Cercis canadensis, Acer saccharum as well as abundant orchids. Largest trees in stand are northern red oak, and Carya ovalis, but these are scattered and canopy is dominated by even-aged tulip poplar. Magnolia fraseri and Magnolia acuminata are common.
Strata covers were recorded in cover classes in the field. Percentages were estimated for database entry considering individual species cover values and from memory of site.
