Directions to plot and tree tag:
Stewart Knob overlook, then N on Parkway 0.7 miles to ravine. Just before mile marker 110. Go up ravine at approximate bearing of 116 degrees. As you go up slope, you are on a convex interfluve between 2 draws. About 200m, look for flagged tree.
Tagged tree is a Quercus montana of 53 cm dbh with tag# 490. Conduit is at a bearing of 100 degrees and 25 m from tree.
Plot location was selected in the field by DNH Ecologist. GPS location seemed wrong, location was estimated on Topo.
Moderately steep, convex slope - interfluve between ravines. Subxeric chestnut oak forest with scattered red oak. Also some white/black oak/hickory in understory. Viburnum acerifolium dominant lower shrub. Herb - Desmodium nudiflorum most common herb. Above plot appears drier. Lower portion of plot begins to pick up ravine species, more mesic, but overall 0.1 ha is homogeneous. Montane Oak-Hickory?
