0.38mi. N from Parkway intersection with 720 (Little). Tagged tree is 60m from field edge, 56m from Parkway - a triple trunked red oak with pink flag. Tagged tree is a Quercus rubra of 40 cm dbh with tag #143 . Conduit is at a bearing of 130 degrees and 6 m from tree.
Plot location selected in the field by DNH Ecologists, targeting oak-hickory forests.
Broad flat ridge with rich oak hickory forest. Remarkably exotic free considering landscape context - situated between 2 roads and with adjacent fields. Mostly red oak- hickory with open shrub and dense herb layer. Beautiful, black loamy soil - deep. Similar to forests found on greenstone in Northern Blue Ridge.
