Observation Narrative ? Plot is situated in a natural grassland as viewed from the southern summit. Scattered small trees and shrubs are present throughout. The southwest aspect no doubt contributes significantly to droughty, hot conditions. Mafic bedrock influences vegetation character. Grassland areas influenced by seasonal runoff have plants such as Rhynchospora globularis and Aletris farinosa. Grassy openings farther down the slope lack northern plants such Sibbaldiopsis tridentata and Solidago randii.
