Observation Narrative ? Steep ravine slope over herbaceous impoundment. "Oak - Beech / Heath" but with no Beech. Stand comprised of large trees with dense, old Kalmia. The largest trees in the entire stand are Pinus taeda, Quercus alba, and Quercus falcata. There very large Ilex and Oxydendrum in the understory. Herbaceous species are sparse to absent. There is much recent and historic wind disturbance. The surrounding upland flat supports disturbed, successional Loblolly-Tulip Poplar Forest with high cover of Microstegium.
