Observation Narrative
This plot documents a dry, rocky, oak-hickory forest on boulder-strewn hillside along Cub Run in the northern Piedmont Culpeper (Triassic) Basin of Fairfax County. Underlying bedrock is diabase. With 125 vascular taxa in 400 sq. meters, this plot is one of the most species-rich quadrats ever sampled in Virginia.
