Observation Narrative ? Plot location: East off Kingman Rd., northeast of the stream crossing on Kingman Rd., adjacent to the open beaver freshwater wetland of Dogue Creek. Plot contains hummock and hollow microtopography. See plot form for drawing. This alluvial forest is dominated by Acer rubrum and Liquidambar styraciflua. The herb layer was rather sparse and mixed on the May visit, but Microstegium cover increased significantly during the course of the month. On a larger scale, the plot is sloped slightly toward the open water/ beaver posn. The plot is adjacent to an open beaver marsh.
