Observation Narrative
Plot located near the southern end of a large swale dominated by Juncus spp. and Panicum amarulum. Some invasion by Pinus taeda and Vaccinium fuscatum is occurring, which may indicate a lowering of the water table. Composition is fairly homogeneous throughout stand, although Juncus dominance increases to the northeast. Subtle hummock-and-hollow microtopography is prevalent. Centella erecta is notably more abundant in shallow (5-10 cm deep) depressions.
