Plot location: Wooded hilltop 0.3 miles SE of Byrd Grove Church.
A second-growth, dry Quercus alba-dominated forest stand with sparse understory (except for Acer rubrum saplings) and herb layer. This stand has recovered from selective logging in 1938; Castanea dentata was an associate tree here in the early part of the 20th century. NOTE: this site is on property owned by the investigator and its land-use history has been researched. This is part of a five-plot transect (plots FLUV001-004 and 007) that cross a low hill and associated variation in forest composition.
