This habitat is a dry-mesic ravine slope and supports a mixed oak forest with some Liriodendron tulipifera, Carya glabra, and (outside the plot) Fagus grandifolia. This stand differs from the other oak forest stands sampled nearby (plots FLUV001, 002, 003, and 005) in its lack of substantial ericad cover and its more varied and species-rich herbaceous flora. At least some of the latter may be the result of past grazing and introductions from an adjacent old pasture. The stand has not been logged since 1938, or possibly earlier. NOTE: the site is on property owned by the investigator and its land-use history has been researched.
