Observation Narrative ? Soil is all but lacking on this steep, open bedrock slope. Bedrock is dark colored and appears to be hornblende gneiss. Plot located on upper portion of east-facing ledges. The disturbed vegetation on the ledge crest has several plant species not found on the undisturbed steep slope (Lepidium, Vulpia octoflora, Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Plantago aristata, Juncus tenuis, Bromus, Celtis tenuifolia, Erigeron strigosus). The vegetation is very similar to that found on Piedmont granite flatrocks.
