Observation Narrative
Plot is located on slopes above saturated area North of Lee Drive. Plot represents an oak-heath type, but unique in that Gaylussacia frondosa dominates the herb layer - and Park largely has Gaylussacia baccata. Gaylussacia frondosa has been more often found adjacent to wetter areas (in slightly elevated spots), whereas Gaylus baccata is in upland/drier sites.

For Clearing: some oak trees are coppiced immediately adjacent to plot. Also the high number of Lirio tulipifera (and a few pines downslope) seems to hint to clearing in past.
