Observation Narrative ? Plot is located in an extensive, mossy, north facing sandstone/quartzite boulderfield vegetated with a gnome like forest of highly gnarled Betula allegheniensis. Although several herbs thrive by rooting in the moss mats, very high (80%) superficial boulder cover greatly limits overall species richness. Upper northwest slope of Elliott Knob, just below the Cold Spring Trail, ca. 0.2 mi west of its junction with the Elliott Knob / Ridgecrest Trail and 0.4 mi WSW of the summit.
