A second-growth, even-age, Atlantic white cedar stand about 60-70 years old, growing on peatland flats of the Great Dismal Swamp. The stand represents a secondary fragment of what must have been an awesome white cedar forest covering hundreds of acres. Two relict white cedar trees, approximately 31 meters tall and 81-84 cm dnh, are located near South Ditch and provide a clue to the size and grandeur of trees comprising the original stands in this area.
