Plot location: Just south of Corapeake Ditch at a point 0.45 miles east of State Line Ditch. Great Dismal Swamp NWR [ca. 0.3 miles south of VA/NC line].
Hummock and hollow microtopography.
Nutrient Regime: Oligotrophic.
A second growth, even-age Chamaecyparis thyoides forest typical of fragmentary remnants in the Great Dismal Swamp. The plot, actually located just into North Carolina, is centered on the location of a peat core taken during a study of millenium-long fire and vegetation histories commissioned by DCR-DNH.
