Observation Narrative ? Plot was positioned to capture the least disturbed portion of a xeric woodland occupying the crest of cliffs in Mather Gorge; because of a major hiking trail and extensive disturbance by hikers and rock climbers in this area, only a 200 sq. m.. plot was feasible. The habitat is flooded by catastrophic floods with an average return interval of 12 to 30 years. Lasalia papulosa, a species found mostly on montane outcrops, is a significant lichen in this community.
