Observation Narrative ? Plot captures a channel shelf outcrop/boulder bar overwhelmingly dominated by Justicia americana. This vegetation is nearly monospecific, with just two additional species present at low cover in the 100 sq. m. plot. Large tree trunks deposited haphazardly on outcrops just upstream of plot attest to the power of floods that periodically impact this habitat. The plot area is inundated by normal river levels for prolonged periods during the winter and spring months.
