Observation Narrative
Plot located in an exceptionally large (12-15 acre), boggy seepage wetland containing a mosaic of shrub thickets and herbaceous openings. Vegetation in the plot is representative of the graminoid-rich herbaceous openings, some of which are several acres in extent. Dominants here include Carex trisperma var. trisperma, Eriophorum virginicum, Juncus subcaudatus var. subcaudatus, Osmunda cinnamomea, Rhynchospora capitellata, and Solidago rugosa ssp. aspera. This site was evidently burned and probably grazed in the past. However, despite evidence of recent and ongoing disturbance, succession toward forest vegetation appears to be very slow to negligible.
Plot located near northern park boundary, in large boggy swale ca. 150 west of Big Wilson Creek at a point 0.3 mi north of its confluence with Quebec Branch.
