Observation Narrative
Plot is situated on a narrow concave seepage slope along Lady Slipper Run. Betula allegheniensis is the overwhelming canopy dominant. Because of the hummocky, somewhat heterogeneous microtopography with varied hydrologic conditions, the forest vegetation here is composed of a mixture of wetland species and upland mesophytes.
Eastern slope of the Blue Ridge near Whites Gap. Plot located on a wet, seeping slope concavity just south of Lady Slipper Run, at a point 0.3 mi SSE of where FR 76 (Jordan Road) crosses the stream.
