Observation Narrative ? Plot location: Maple Flats pond complex, ca. 0.5 miles NNE of Coal Road where it crosses Canada Run. Rock Types Present: bedrock covered by a thick alluvial fan of metasedimentary materials. This plot was located in the central portion of this pond, but does not include the deep depression in the lowest part of the basin. The plot area was well drawn down and dominated by Panicum rigidulum var. rigidulum. Scattered Quercus palustris trees occur within and along the edge of this pond, which is one of the most important for amphibians and other wildlife of the Maple Flats area (Buhlmann, Mitchell & Smith 1999).
