Observation Narrative
Plot located on crest of spur ridge 0.25 mi N of Childress Branch. The soil surface atop this relatively narrow spur ridge crest is characterized by gravel sized granitic rocks interbedded in and on top of blackish duff. Some of the forbs present, which were thought to indicate submesotrophic conditions, e.g. Helianthus divaricatus, Solidago arguta, Viola triloba, might be indicating mineral surface substrates.
