Observation Narrative
Plot located ca. 20 m south of the junction of blue-blazed trail and old jeep road, 0.6 mi SW of Seeley Woodworth Shelter. Compare this releve with plot GPNF330. While both plots have many plant species in common, this plot is absolutely thick with Osmunda claytoniana. I suspect the abundance of Osmunda is due to the greatly concave, water collecting slope shape, while GPNF330 is on a gently convex, water shedding slope, and Dennstaedtia punctilobula is the dominant fern.
Measured trees in plot (dbh in cm.): Quercus rubra (57), Carya ovata (34.2).
