Plot location: Slope bordering small stream, 0.6 miles WNW of junction of routes 54 and 671.
This site was cutover and planted in loblolly pines in the 1970's. A narrow (10 X 40m) plot was positioned along a low, rocky convexity that was spared from cutting at that time. This very small area contains a number of medium-age Quercus alba, Q. rubra, and Carya spp and a rather sparse but surprisingly diverse herb layer. Though still numerous, Cornus florida will probably be extirpated from this site by the introduced pathogen, dogwood anthracnose in the future.
