Observation Narrative ? A low interior marsh with much sparsely vegetated peat; well-flushed, via nearby channel. Microtopography is rough; peat blocks are ca. 11 cm above muck. This appears to have resulted from erosion of original peat surface. Community made up of mosaic of dominance types: Juncus roemerianus and Spartina alterniflora - Distichlis spicata. Plot sampled at 15:30 EDT; tide appears to be out. Many snails and crabs. Plot located ca. 150 ft from toe of dune, due southwest of "mast/flagpole" on dune, 267 deg from DCR sign on dune. Center marked with 1: diameter PVC pipe.
