Observation Narrative
Just a small pool of standing water remained at this wetland on this date. Earlier in the year, water was approximately 1.5m deep, judging from water marks on tree trunk. Soils in this wetland are clay-rich, and therefore the wetland serves as a collecting basin for runoff. The drainage region feeding this basin is quite small, and consequently community trophic conditions are submesotrophic.
Classified as "intermittent" water. Surrounding soil is Peawick - Slagle complex 2 to 6 % slopes; permeability of the Peawick soil is very slow, and that of the Slagle soil is slow to moderate. Runoff is medium.
