Observation Narrative
Plot located in the most open portion of a fire-suppressed pine-oak sandhill woodland. A few relic and regenerated Pinus palustris have persisted here but are greatly outnumbered by Pinus taeda. Quercus laevis, Q. nigra, and a dense complex of ericaceous shrubs (primarily Gaylussacia frondosa, Kalmia angustifolia, and Vaccinium tenellum) are present in the lower strata. This community appears to be restorable with prescribed burning.
